Discover practical, balanced food choices that support overall liver health and everyday wellness.
What does a liver-friendly plate look like?
A balanced plate can include vegetables, whole fruits, whole grains, pulses or other protein sources, and moderate amounts of healthy fats. Rather than relying on one “detox” food, focus on variety, portion balance and consistency.
1. Apples and other whole fruits
Whole fruits such as apples provide fiber and plant compounds. Choose whole fruit more often than juice so you keep the natural fiber and feel fuller for longer.
2. Leafy and colourful vegetables
Spinach, carrots, beetroot, broccoli and other vegetables add vitamins, minerals and fiber to everyday meals. Rotating colours is an easy way to increase dietary variety.
3. Whole grains and pulses
Oats, brown rice, dal, chickpeas and beans can add fiber and useful nutrients. Pairing grains with pulses also makes everyday vegetarian meals more balanced.
4. Nuts and seeds
Walnuts, almonds, flaxseed and chia can be used in sensible portions as part of a balanced diet. Choose unsalted options when possible.
Simple habits that matter
Stay hydrated, keep highly processed foods occasional, avoid excessive added sugar, stay physically active and maintain regular meal habits. If you have diagnosed liver disease or abnormal liver tests, follow advice from your doctor or dietitian.
